Against the Eternal Polish
Modern finishes promise to remain identical forever. Plastic coats, chrome, and lacquer seal metals from the atmosphere. We prefer untreated brass. It reacts to the oils of the hand, darkening at the grip and staying bright where it is polished by touch.
