About the Mentors

AR. CHINMAY GAUR 
Co-Founder - Equim Private Limited

Chinmay Gaur always had keen interest in coding and therefore, pursued it further in architecture by applying the concepts of parametric architecture and computational design in his practice. For the thesis project during college, his research on 'the span of the evolution of Architecture in India’ explored parametric style that is the future of architecture.
He was working at Design Forum International, New-Delhi before he co-founded his architectural and educational firm. Having great passion for revolutionizing the education of architects, he has given many Guest Lectures and Webinars.

AR. PARIDE STELLA
Computaional Designer

Paride Stella (1994) is an architect and computational designer. He achieved his Master Degree in Architecture at the University Of Chieti/Pescara in 2019 with a thesis aimed to explore the metamorphosis of the design theory in the contemporary digital revolution. In the same year, his research leads to the publication of an academic paper titled “Generative Design for Printable Mass Customization Jewelry Products.” His interest in product design and computational strategies granted him awards in international competitions. In 2020 he began his collaboration with Arturo Tedeschi as a computational designer. The tireless seek for new challenges makes him pursue constant research of novel techniques and approaches.

AR. AMAN AGRAWAL 
Co-Founder - GRIS Design Studio

Aman Agrawal is an industrial designer and co-founder of GRIS Design studio based in Madrid, Spain. He is also the founder of Cademy.xyz, an online CAD academy for design students & professionals offering Rhinoceros and Grasshopper courses. His works are focused on using computational design strategies to come up with optimized and new solutions to design problems. He has a bachelor's degree in industrial design and has worked for clients like Adidas, Haeckles, Carolina Herrera etc.

DR. KOSTAS GRIGORIADIS
Architect & University Lecturer at UCL

Dr Kostas Grigoriadis is an architect and university lecturer. His work explores the spatial and theoretical implications of the use of multi-materials in architecture, as well as the new paradigm of spatial and material continuity that they will enable. His practice Continuum provides building design services and has recently completed the construction of a tourist centre in Anhui, China. He holds a Master’s in Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Association and a PhD in Architecture by Project from the Royal College of Art. He has edited the book Mixed Matters: A Multi-Material Design Compendium, was awarded the RIBA 2018 President’s Award for Design and Technical Research and in 2019 the inaugural Google R+D in the Built Environment Fellowship. He is currently a Lecturer at the Bartlett School of Architecture.

JAMES DALESSANDRO
Co-Founder - Emergent Design

James is a Boston based computational designer. He is the Co-Founder and Director at Emergent Design, a design technology company focused on delivering computational solutions for complex design goals in the fields of architecture, design, and engineering. Inspired by the combination of mathematics and the beauty of natural phenomena, James' work explores applications of generative form, rules-based systems, graph theory, and traditional computational geometry algorithms to draw a bridge between formal product design and current digital design paradigms.

AR. JOSÉ E. N. DEZA
Computaional Designer at ZHA

José E. Navarrete Deza is a designer with more than 5 years of experience working on architectural and artistic projects of different scales. He currently works as a Designer at Zaha Hadid Architects where he focuses on the design and rationalization of complex geometries. Previously he has worked in architecture studios in New York at Carlos Zapata Studio, in London at Grimshaw Architects, and in Lima, Perú. José studied Architecture at the University of Sheffield and later studied the AA Diploma where he received an honorable mention for his final year thesis project. His main research interest is directed towards the theory and practice of experimental and speculative spatial design through the use of drawing and animation techniques. His work has been nominated for several awards and has been exhibited in the United Kingdom and the United States.

AR. ORAN SHEINMAN 
Concept Lead Designer- Adidas

Oran Sheinman is a Computational Concept Designer based in Tel Aviv. Oran held multiple positions of future-oriented design, recently in the advanced concept team at Adidas (Germany) and as an industrial designer/PM at Tamooz (Israel). Currently, he is both the owner of “Shine”, a studio that specializes in projects that lay in the intersection between data and design, and a lecturer of advanced design in Shenkar College of Design and Engineering. Oran is a graduate of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design – B.Des in Industrial Design.

Why DAM?

 

The availability of so many softwares and resources on the internet have offered a plethora of opportunities for the user but with the boon it has brought along the bane too. 

With so much information available, it's hard for the user to join the dots and learn in a structural manner, which in turn causes chaos, confusion, and becomes overwhelming.

The finished outcomes of the softwares and tools fascinate the students but after learning the basics, most of them tend to lose interest witnessing the difficulty level or because of different design interests. 

So, at Equim, we believe that the first step is to help them become aware of the multiple possibilities that can be explored.

DAM aims to offer attendees a platform to learn and get exposed to the tested methodologies of the industry leaders allowing them to analyse their work.

The Try-Test-Replicate Workflow will offer them a chance to learn multiple tools and workflows so they can choose the one with which they align the most.
